Emily Murphy holds a Masters degree in Music History from the University of Washington where she was awarded a teaching assistant fellowship and is currently pursuing a Graduate Performance Diploma in Collaborative Piano at the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA.
Emily is also the assistant Music Director and pianist at Our Lady of Grace Parish in Everett, MA.
In 2002, Emily was awarded the Artsbridge Scholarship for facilitating and creating original operas at several schools in the Salt Lake City area and continued her work educating children through Studio East and Children's Theater Northwestin Seattle.
Emily has studied with Marjorie Janove, Heather Conner, Brian Moll and has participated in master classes with Frances Young Bennett, Amy Burton, Graham Johnson, John Harbison, John Musto, Paul Sperry, Leon Fleischer, Paul Pollei, Karl Paulnack, Paul Katz, and Martin Katz.
She attended the Boston Conservatory Piano Festival in 2003 and the Park City International Chamber Music Festival in 2002.
Emily currently accompanies in the instrumental and vocal departments at the Longy School of Music and serves as the accompanist for the Longy Chamber Chorus.
Emily was recently chosen as a Stern Fellow with her duo partner, soprano Sarah Elizabeth Bach, to participate in SongFest, collaborating with esteemed artists such as Martin Katz, Graham Johnson, John Harbison, John Musto and Paul Sperry.
Upcoming recitals and concerts will take place in Malibu, CA; Boston, Cambridge and West Barnstable, MA; and Red Cloud, NE.
